Hensel Phelps was founded in Greeley, Colorado, in June 1937 by Mr. Abel Hensel Phelps. Operations initially were limited to home building and remodeling, after which competitive contract work was undertaken on a limited scale.
Hensel Phelps’ first commercial projects included grain elevators built from wood, as materials were rationed during World War II. Since then, Hensel Phelps has built in excess of 100 million SF of commercial and office building space valued at over $18.7 billion.
